No Place Else is a newsletter exploring relationships to and within New York City.

Whether that’s greeting a bodega cat, strategically choosing the subway cart most convenient for a swift exit, or laughing at the “stop stealing items from the mail” sign in the hallway of a seven story walk-up, No Place Else is for virtually traveling through New York City via different perspectives and learning more about interactions with the people and things around us.

I’ll be sharing personal essays, interviews with creatives and other not yet specified interesting things with the hope they’ll resonate with people who find themselves looking for community, conversation and all things centered around New York.

Twice a month, subscribers can expect odes, observations and opinions highlighting the undeniable magnetism of a city that’s objectively difficult to live in but impossible not to love.

I’m Marjorie Nunez, a writer and overthinker whose work has appeared in various journals throughout this lifetime — not scientific or academic, but floral printed, marbled composition, sometimes moleskine — they can be found in my hallway closet or under my bed.

As a life-long writer, dreamer and creative, I've always been excited about sharing stories. I've involved myself in projects that communicate experiences from different walks of life and have found that encouraging understanding through sensory experiences makes a better everyday for all of us. From journalism to visual arts, the healing arts and food service, I choose to create things that share multidimensional values and build lasting communities.

I graduated from the University of Florida with a Journalism BA in 2014 and moved to New York City that summer. I’ve since lived in several neighborhoods within Brooklyn and Manhattan, worked countless jobs, and like anyone reading this, I too, can add am currently surviving a pandemic.
